(AVFD)
Regular Duties of the Department
The crew is responsible for responding to all fire emergencies, upkeep and cleanliness of fire equipment and vehicles, public fire safety education, recruiting and training new members, fixing small mechanical problems, and reporting problem areas to the ACID for prompt attention.
AVFD members are committed to being ready to respond to an emergency as quickly as possible.
Other areas of Community service provided by AVFD include:
Flooding the local skating rink at Atlin School
Putting lights on Community buildings for special events
Shoveling snow from roofs
Overseeing and dousing controlled burns (landfill and other)
Responding to vehicle extrication incidents
Responding to general rescue incidents within the District
