Mandate
Improvement districts are brought into existence by the Province through a Cabinet Order that authorizes the enactment of a document known as Letters Patent. The Letters Patent identify the unique characteristics of the Improvement district.
The Atlin Community Improvement District has the object of operating the
following services:
Drainage
Fire protection
Sidewalks
Solid waste disposal
Street lighting
Waterworks
Representing the community in communication with provincial agencies on land use matters, and advising or making recommendations to the Minister of Community Development on land use matters.

Lieutenant Governor CANADA PROVINCE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
ELIZABETH the SECOND, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Her
Other Realms and Territories, Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of
the Faith.
WHEREAS the Atlin Improvement District (the "improvement district") was incorporated by Letters Patent issued on January 30, 1967, which were recalled and reissued on November 4, 1993;
AND WHEREAS the Lieutenant Governor in Council considers it desirable to change the name of the improvement district, extend the area of the improvement district, add an object for the improvement district and change the number of trustees of the improvement district;NOW THEREFORE it is ordered that, effective January 1, 2009, the Letters Patent for the Atlin Improvement District, issued on November 4, 1993, is amended as follows:
1 Section 1 is amended by adding
"under the name "Atlin Community Improvement District" after "continued":
Sections 2 and 3 are repealed and the following substituted:
2. The improvement district shall comprise all that tract of land and foreshore and land covered by
water described as follows:Commencing at the point of intersection of the middle line of O'Donnel River and the natural high water mark of Atlin Lake on the easterly shore thereof; thence in a general easterly direction
along said middle line of O'Donnel River to the point of intersection with the southerly prolongation of the middle line of Wilson Creek;thence northerly in a straight line to the summit of Sentinel Mountain; thence northeasterly in a straight line to the summit of Idaho Peak; thence northerly in a straight line to the summit of Mount Edmund; thence northwesterly in a straight line to a point on the middle line of Indian Creek which lies due east of the northeast corner of Lot 2092, Cassiar Land District; thence due west to the said northeast corner of
Lot 2092; thence westerly along the northerly boundary of Lot 2092 and continuing westerly along the westerly prolongation thereof to the point of intersection with a line drawn parallel to and 800 metres perpendicularly distant westerly from the natural high water mark of Atlin Lake on the easterly shore there of thence in a general southerly direction parallel to and 800 metres perpendicularly distant westerly from said natural high water mark of Atlin Lake on the easterly shore thereof to a point which lies due west of the northwest corner of Lot 253;thence due south to a point which lies due west of the most southerly corner of
Lot 63 51; thence due east to the point of intersection with a line drawn parallel to and 800 metres perpendicularly distant westerly from the aforesaid natural high water mark of Atlin Lake on the easterly
shore thereof; thence in a general southerly direction parallel to and 800 metres perpendicularly distant westerly from said natural high water mark of Atlin Lake on the easterly shore thereof to a point which lies due west
of the aforesaid point of intersection of the middle line of O'Donnel River and the natural high water mark of Atlin Lake on the easterly shore thereof; thence due east to said point of intersection, being the point of commencement.
3. The improvement district has the object of operating the following services:
(a) drainage;
(b) fire protection;
(c) sidewalks;
(d) solid waste disposal;
(e) street lighting;
(f) waterworks;
(g) representing the community in communication with provincial agencies on land use matters, and advising or making recommendations to the Minister of Community Development on land use matters.
3 Section 4 is amended by striking out "five" and substituting "7":
